One of my friends asked me..Did Adam or eve ever exist.. or was it just a figment of someone's imagination?
True..The bible states the first man and women were created by the lord from the earth's dust and was given the gift of life..They lived in the garden of Eden..However god forbid them to eat from the tree of knowledge in the middle of the garden..Until a serpent persuaded eve to take a bite from a apple..They each took a bite..Gained wisdom and thus god became angry and banished them.. However since man ate the fruit of knowledge..he became intelligent and started discovering of how things work and started creating objects using the earth's sources for his own benefit
Man..Become a living force on planet earth..mutiplying and harnessing mother nature resources at a rapid rate..Therefore creating a world we live in today..Filled with grief, poverty, war, sorrow and misery. Indeed man became as god predicted a plundering savage who uses anything and everything for his own benefits.
The Scientific version now.... Man is a Finesse product from Primates or what we call apes.. Evolution dictated from Charles Darwin sprung a whole new plane of how man was created.. Man learnt slowly and thus broadened his Ideals and scope creating the world we live in now.. We Homosapiens maybe still having the wrong hypothesis of how we were born..

Whether it's Adam& Eve or evolution humans are definitely a failed experiment.
Part of that is based on if on thinks the bible is a document of fact or fiction.
And specific to the Adam and Eve story, one that believes it is historical fact would have decide which of the 2 stories of Adam and Eve it tells is the "true one".
I on the other hand believe the bible is a fictional book that occassionally and loosly refers to some actual historal figures and events.
I personal believe that the bible is about as factual as, hhhmmm, Zeus's bird repeatedly feeding on Prometheus's liver as punishment for stealing fire.
scientists and those pretending to know everything will always claim that the Bible is based on imagination thus a work of fiction. but to those who have been living with It and whose lives have been touched by It will always believe everything about It.
The Bible may be a mere book to some but it is a book that has been in this world for time immemorial...It is the best selling book for all times in fact. and it wouldn't be that if It were just a book. see what i mean?
yeah, i'm a Catholic. i don't read much about the Bible but i respect It the same way i do to all other books of other religious organizations.

I've always believed that the Bible speaks truth and not fiction. What makes people think otherwise is its propensity to use metaphors. Perhaps, seven days is a mere metaphorical allusion to the several millenia it took for life to begin on this planet? Perhaps the apple, that forbidden fruit of Wisdom, is a mere metaphorical term for man's aspiration and insistent struggle to achieve his ideals? The Book of Genesis and the Book of Revelation is filled with so many metaphors that anyone who studies Figures of Speech will have a grand time reading them.
the bible was written many years ago. You can imagine the primitive language that was spoken in old era. It could be spoken in idioms, etc. And we must bare in mind that when one language is transilated from one language to many the meaning May be lost. God granted a human being a free will. God knows the PAST PRESENT and the future. All he did had intentions.
I dont think a tree of knowledge exists obviously this is a figurative expression of some sort. I also dont believe a snake could speak even then. All this has a spiritual meaning and should not be interpreted literaly.
